Yukon Learning Networks 2017-18: Case Studies and Presentation Videos
"Innovation floats on a sea of inquiry and curiosity propels change".
(The Spiral Playbook, Linda Kaser and Judy Halbert, 2017)
- Inquiry is about being open to new learning and taking informed action. It involves design, discipline and a critical focus on evidence that matters.
- Innovation is about recognizing that old approaches are not working for all learners, identifying what the key needs of our current learners are, and then creating new strategies based on knowledge about what does work. (Spirals of Inquiry, Halbert and Kaser, 2013)
During the 2017-18 school, year, many Yukon educators worked collaboratively in Learning Networks through the "Spiral of Inquiry" framework to seek ways of improving their students' learning. The fruits of their hard work are:
- Students benefitted directly from their teachers' and education assistants' innovative practices!
- Participants documented their Inquiries and shared them for the benefit of colleagues and students within and beyond Yukon.
- Eighteen "Ignite-style" Inquiry presentations were given at two 'Celebration of Learning' events in April 2018
